Not quite as prestigious as they were before, but still career aspirations for many young people.
The bar exam helps 1000-odd students every year pursue those goals.
Judge: Justice of every court, except the Supreme Court of Korea.
Prosecutor: Judicial officer who has the right to prosecute.
Investigates crimes, files charges, and conducts trials.
As the dictionary says, judges and prosecutors guard and uphold the law.
Then...Does every one of those 1000 young people take the bar exam to guard the law and carry out justice?
Probably not.
Some of them most likely choose these jobs as symbols of success,
since they are still among the most admired professions in this capitalist society.
However, even if members of the bar chose the law for personal glory,
they cannot be good at their jobs if they do not possess the ethics and judgement unique to human beings.
A human being, by the authority given by the government, judges wrongs committed by other humans.
How is this possible with only theory and skill?
One assumes that most of the youths who chose the legal path without any special sense of duty
grew and matured as they entered and worked in that world.
Here we find a cutting-edge young prosecutor without a speck of dutifulness or common sense.
From the outside, she seems to have everything, but on the inside, she is immeasurably deficient…
But you will watch her as, through people and through love, she is reborn as a more grown-up, open-minded "true prosecutor," as well as a mature member of society and of the workforce.
And we hope that this childish human being who grows up on work and love will help us feel and sympathize with many things, as well as grow up with her as we watch this drama.
We hope Prosecutor Princess will be a drama that laughs, enjoys, and worries with all of you.

Seo In-woo (played by Park Shi-hoo)
Principal Attorney, Haneul ["sky/or heaven] Law Offices
Has an unusual resume -- graduated from an American university, then came to Korea to take the bar exam and became a lawyer.
Runs the law firm "Haneul," which houses outsiders who can't deal with the realities of the legal profession in Korea.
There are many rumors about his origins, but no one really knows his past.
Sharp appearance, sophisticated style.
Recklessly confident and appropriately pompous.
But sometimes, he is a trashy delinquent, and sneaky as well, but not so much that people hate him for it.
His cute playfulness and laugh are his trademarks!
It takes a lot of get him angry.
On the outside, he is brilliant and fair…but he has a chilling dark side.
He is tenacious, meticulous, and good at reading people's minds.
He stops at nothing to win his clients' lawsuits, and is not above blackmailing people who deserve it.
On the other hand, he is tender and warm toward innocent underdogs.
He acts as legal aid or pro bono attorney on behalf of the powerless.
A man whose personality changes like a chameleon.
Just why does In-woo hide his true self and hang around Hye-ri?

Yoon Se-joon (played by Han Jeong-soo)
Chief Prosecutor of Ma Hye-ri's office
Tall and handsome, this attractive man is called "The Gregory Peck of the Prosecutor World."
He is capable, cold, cynical, and harsh.
He lost his wife to cancer 3 years ago, and has a 7-year-old daughter.
He is more traumatized by his wife's death than one would think.
While he worked like a crazy man at the prosecutorial profession, which he found fun because of his boiling-hot sense of justice and passion, his wife supported him quietly. She allowed her disease to progress too much, and he couldn't even be at her deathbed.
Th profession of prosecutor, which is so intense that he had to give up his personal life…in his heart, he carries remorse that he can't let anyone else see.
He is grateful to Prosecutor Jin and her mother for raising his daughter safely, but he hasn't noticed Jin Jeong-seon's feelings for him. He treasures her as a trustworthy junior colleague.
He is severe and cold with Hye-ri, who looks a lot like his wife but doesn't act like her at all.
However, he also understands Hye-ri who, lacking passion for prosecution, treats it as just another job.
So when everyone gives up on Hye-ri, he gives her an opportunity.
When that makes Hye-ri fall for him and she makes advances, he resists.
But as she charges him uncalculatingly, there comes a time when he accepts her feelings.
However…the deeper his relationship with Hye-ri becomes, the more regret he feels about Jin Jeong-seon.
And watching Hye-ri suffer over In-woo, he learns a truth that he wasn't able to comprehend before…

Hye-ri's senior colleague
Ma Hye-ri's natural enemy!
Hot-blooded prosecutor who lives by justice and dies by justice.
She runs around as though she'll save the world all by herself.
Unbeknownst to her, this has earned her the nickname "Eagle Noona [older sister]"
as well as "Double Blade" -- because her speech cuts like a knife.
She became a prosecutor because her father, having lost all of his money to a con, died of a nervous disorder brought on by rage. Because of her work, she has never dreamed of marriage.
Sometimes, when corruption in the prosecutor world comes to light, or a fellow prosecutor's misconduct is revealed, she fumes alone, drinking like a fish.
But Ma Hye-ri, flaunting her feminine scent, comes on the scene.
As if that aura weren't enough, she points out things that are wrong with Jeong-seon's appearance and even talks back?! A one-way ticket to Jeong-seon's hit list.
No need for experience; that thing needs to be fired right away!
Being a prosecutor when she is not at all prosecutor material...Jeong-seon will not accept this.
Besides…Hye-ri shamelessly makes moves on Yoon Se-joon, the object of Jeong-seon's secret affection, and steals him away little by little…Jeong-seon, who has no dating experience, is about to die because of Hye-ri.
All she's done is admire Yoon Se-joon from afar. She doesn't know what to do except wait for his wounds to heal. She half-forces her mother, using threats and pleas, to baby-sit Yoon's daughter Bin, and looks after Bin providently.
She's inept at expressing emotions, as well as bumbling, timid, and naively unaware of social norms.
When will she finally be able to express her feelings for Se-joon…
Lee Min-seok (played by Yoo Geon)
Thirtysomething. Hye-ri's colleague.
Realist who entered a marriage arranged by a professional matchmaker, receiving three golden keys as a dowry.
Thinks that he should at least outwardly honor his contract of marriage.
Dodges left and right to avoid taking on bothersome cases,
but is reliable once he takes on a case.
Prosecuting is just a job.
He doesn't have any special sense of justice.
But since it's his job, he works thoroughly and satisfactorily.

Chae Ji-woon (played by Choi Seong-ho)
Thirtysomething. Hye-ri's colleague who suffers from poverty.
From Ulleungdo. Married his first love from his village, who he dated since 9th grade, and has two sons.
His wife is a stay-at-home mom who graduate high school; he has parents to support; he needs to pay hospital fees for his father-in-law, who's been an invalid for three years; add to that his two sons...
He struggles to make ends meet with his prosecutor's salary, but he doesn't dream of becoming a defense attorney because he believes that prosecution is his calling.
He's a good man who sometimes envies colleagues who married into good conditions,
but then immediately feels apologetic toward his wife.
But after he finds out that his wife worked as a housekeeper for his colleague Lee Min-seok, he decides to open his on law firm.
At one point, someone asks him for a case-related favor, and he becomes conflicted because of the money.
Lee Jeong-im (played by Lee Eun-hee)
Late 20s. Mah Hye-ri's assistant.
Worked in Lee Min-seok's office, then was transferred when Hye-ri was hired.
Is not cooperative because she is contemptuous of Hye-ri.
As she watches Hye-ri, who's around her age, she feels both admiration and jealousy.
Has a habit of trash-talking the immature Hye-ri in the bathroom, calling her an embarrassment to women, but is secretly envious of her beauty, intelligence, and background.
Cha Myung-soo (played by Lee Seung-hyung)
Early 40s. Mah Hye-ri's investigator.
Worked as in investigator for Jin Jeong-seon before moving to Hye-ri's office. Hot-headed.
Being Hye-ri's subordinate makes him feel like dying. She is so different from Prosecutor Jin who, although she's a younger woman, has a piercing sense of duty as a prosecutor.
So he pretends not to notice Hye-ri's mistakes and gloats when she runs into problems, but when Hye-ri really tries to her job well, he reverts to an investigator's innate attitude and helps her.
He met his wife, who was a victim, in the early days of his job; they have two children. He lives totally under his wife's cont

Na Joong-seok (played by Kim Sang-ho)
Mid- or late 40s. Investigation Dept. Bureau Chief.
So warm and kind that you might think "Can someone like this really be a prosecutor?"
Even asks nicely when he wants his subordinates to do things. When he scratches the back of his head, he looks timid.
Not good at saying anything out of line or scolding harshly, so he always has a good reputation in his bureau. He is skilled at persuading and moving people through his nice personality and gentle words. He also asks subordinates for their opinion or helps them solve problems on their own.
But even this widely known nice guy can suddenly turn scary when someone goes against fundamental principles, so his nickname is "Hulk." The person who turns him into The Incredible Hulk goes halfway to death. Mah Hye-ri, acting immature and silly, becomes that person.
When the case of Hye-ri's father explodes on scene, his superiors pressure him not to prosecute. However, he trusts Prosecutor Yoon and soldiers on.

Ma Sang-tae (played by Choi Jeong-woo)
Mid-fifties. Hye-ri's father / CEO of ST Architecture.
A self-made businessman; ignorant, shallow, and greedy.
However, to others, he is an intelligent, genteel, and a capable businessman.
He thinks that money makes all this possible.
He displays a different attitude with this children (including Hye-ri) from the one he displays with his wife.
He thinks that it's okay to show his raw, true self to his wife because she is easily managed.
Since his wife's fortunes improved because of him, he doesn't feel at all sorry when he frequently changes girlfriends.
When he sold houses, the civil servant whose house he was building gave him information on a future development area. He bought up that land in advance and made a big profit. That gave him the push to build an architecture firm. He kept making deals with that same civil servant, who kept rising through the ranks, to quietly advance his company, and now, 15 years later…he is the CEO of an architecture firm with several affiliates, and the high-ranking civil servant is seeking his third term as a member of the National Assembly.
He still maintains a secret exchanges of power and money with the civil servant, but now, he is planning to get power as well by marrying his impressive daughter Hye-ri into a political family.
However, he learns that some unknown lawyer named Seo In-woo is making advances on Hye-ri…afraid that his past wrongdoings will be exposed, he watches In-woo like a hawk.

Park Ae-ja (played by Yang Hee-kyung)
Early fifties. Hye-ri's mother.
Has a generous personality to go with her generous 80kg frame. Very affectionate.
Full of charm and a good cook, she is the archetypical woman.
Hye-ri gets the building blocks of her personality from her.
Born into a poor family. Dropped out of high school to jump into the real world.
Met Ma Sang-tae while working at a construction-site diner and married him.
Followed her husband around as he sold houses, cooking for him, carrying bricks, and supporting him in general. Now that he is successful, he not only mistreats and looks down on her because of her increasing weight, but also cheats on her. When he defends himself by making a big show of bringing home the bacon, she can't even find the words…
This humiliation made her decide that a woman should be both capable and pretty in order to be happy. So she policed Hye-ri to make her study hard, got her into a top university, and put her on a severe diet, bringing about a rebirth. But she still checks Hye-ri's food intake, amount of exercise, etc.
The vicarious satisfaction she gets from having a beautiful woman prosecutor for a daughter is shattered when she finds out that Hye-ri has a crush on a single dad with a daughter of his own.
It's said that smart girls can't win against pretty girls,
and pretty girls can't win against lucky girls!
She can't deal with her disappointment, so she eats.
Lee Yoo-na (played by Min Young-won)
Age 27. Hye-ri's friend and the manager at a high-class boutique.
Took time off from law college to transform herself through a jailhouse diet. She paired up with Hye-ri, a previous inmate, and ran around frolicking with her.
Even now, when she gets new merchandise, she calls Hye-ri to try it on so that she can figure out if the items will sell well.
She likes to gossip with Hye-ri while they get nail art together.
When Hye-ri grumbles about something that happened at the office,
Yoo-na goes on and on, as if to compete, about things that happened in her store.
Both Hye-ri's mother and Jenny, who is Attorney Seo's colleague, are VIP customers, so she unconsciously becomes an informant who passes information about Hye-ri to Jenny.
Sometimes, she feels envious of Hye-ri, who has everything as if she were the daughter of a god; other times, she feels resentful.
Whenever she feels threatened, she brings up Hye-ri's past as a fat girl to make fun of her.

Jenny Ahn (played by Park Jeong-ah)
Age 29. In-woo's friend. International lawyer.
Korean, but was adopted into the U.S. as an infant.
Has extraordinary endurance and courage from having to live as an Asian in American society.
Met In-woo when he came to live with an adoptive father and enrolled in her middle school.
The day she found out about In-woo's heartbreak, which was even deeper than her own heartbreak over being abandoned by her biological parents, she held out her hand to him:
"I'll be your sister…"
So they became like brother and sister, like family.
When they got into a fight with some Mexicans because of racism issues,
they defended each other to the death.
She came to love In-woo, but she doesn't express it because she's afraid that it'll ruin their sibling-like bond.
When In-woo decides to leave for Korea to do the work that he's dreamed of all his life, she follows In-woo to help him.
Han Mi-ok (played by Seong Byeong-sook)
Late fifties. Jin Jeong-seon's mother.
After her husband's death, she ran a marketplace stall to raise her daughter.
She sounds quick-tempered and harsh, but is actually very kind.
She is raising Bin, Prosecutor Yoon's daughter, because her daughter begged her to.
(Outwardly, she's doing it for the money, but)
She shouldn't have fallen for it…useless daughter…
She didn't find out until later that her daughter, who she thought was the smartest girl in the world, is in love with that single dad…and a one-sided love, to boot. Appalled, she hit her daughter until there were bruises on her back, but…
No parent can truly defeat her child.
She starts to love Bin as she raises her, and Jeong-seon isn't getting any younger…
now, she wishes for Jeong-seon to do well with Prosecutor Yoon, and beats on her daughter for not making any progress.
Yoon Bin (played by Kim Ji-won)
Age 7. Yoon Se-joon's daughter.
Just like the quiet, standoffish Yoon Se-joon.
An expert at letting her imagination run free, so is often spaced out.
She guesses at everyone's situation and feelings by imagining.
Because she has no mother and doesn't spend much time with her father, she never displays childish antics. Instead, she's wily for her age. She doesn't like her father to look like a single dad, so she nags him as her mother would.
Bickers with Jin Jeong-seon as friends do. Knows that "Auntie" Prosecutor Jin likes her father and enthusiastically ponders how Auntie would be as a stepmother. Then she meets Hye-ri, who looks exactly like her dead mother (whose photograph she looks at every day).
Her heart…is pounding away...
