Who was Dam-deok (Gwang Gae Toh Dae Wang)?: He was the 19th king of Goguryeo (lasted from 37 B.C. to 668 A.D.). During the time of Dam-deok, Goguryeo was the most powerful nation in East Asia (yes, even the Chinese dynasty couldn't defeat Goguryeo). At age 11, he was made the Crown Prince and became King when he was 16. In 396, he attacked Baekje (a nation Southwest of Goguryeo) and took over the northern area above the Han River. He defeated the many invasions made by the Yeon Dynasty (China) after 400 A.D. During his reign, the number of castles he took over numbered in the hundreds and villages numbered in the thousands. However, he died at an untimely age of 39.

Storyline: Jumong, the founder of Goguryeo, establish Goguryeo with his Four Gods: Cheong-ryong (Blue Dragon), Baek-ho (White Tiger), Joo-jak (Phoenix), Hyeon-mu (symbolized as a turtle). The Japanese may know them as Seiryuu, Byakko, Suzaku, and Genbu. Jumong marries Soseono, who had a big part in the founding of Goguryeo. They have two sons, Onjo and Biryu. When the son of Jumong's first wife came to Goguryeo in search of his father, and is named Crown Prince, Soseono takes her sons, Onjo and Biryu, South and establishs Baekje. This is how Baekje and Goguryeo were known as "brother countries".

As time passed, the Four Gods secluded themselves from society and watched as Baekje and Goguryeo's relationship worsened (worsened more mainly because Goguryeo's king was killed in a battle between Baekje and Goguryeo).

One day, Ju-ahn, "Hyeon-mu" of the Four Gods, sees two stars sour up into the sky. Since one came from the palace in Baekje, it predicted the birth of "Su", later known as King Ah-shin. The other star came from Goguryeo, prophesizing the birth of Dam-deok, later known as Gwang Gae Toh Dae Wang.

Realizing that his new master has come to the world, Ju-ahn awaits in the vast Manchuria with a young girl, Sujini, to see which of the two will be his master. Sujini was picked up as an orphan by Ju-ahn and considers Ju-ahn as her father.

Therefore, the story is on the Four Gods looking for their master, Gwang Gae Toh Dae Wang, who was an expert in tactics, the woman he loved (Sujini), who was also loved by the coldhearted King Ah-shin.

Bae Yong Joon as Haemosoo, Joomong, Damdeok (character of Great King Kwang-gae-to)



'BYJ will act 3 characters in the 'Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi'(TWSSG). He will appear in the first and second episodes as Haemosoo, a descendant of Tangoon(Founder of Korea 5,000 years ago in a myth), and Joomong, the founding king of Kogooryeo in Tangoon Myth, and appears as the Great King Kwang-gae-to, the main character from 5th episode.

The Great King Kwang-gae-to, the person who had led renaisance of the Kogooryeo by expanding her territory in Manchuria, etc., has strong image of a conqueror. It might be difficult to find parts that coincide with tender image of BYJ. However, Director Kim Jonghak thinks that 'Dam Deok is rather outstanding strategist rather than brave general to the extent he conquered other countries' castles from age of 16. He told that he would like to depict 'Dam Deok' in such image in the 'TWSSG'

Moon So Ri as Seo Ki Ha



The Seo Kiha character Moon Sori is to act is a woman with fate in which she could not help but to become strong for the love she could not have. Inheriting blood-line of Honyeo(Tiger women) Tribe, who stayed as tiger while bear became a woman by going through enduring and suffering period in the Tangoon Myth, she has fate who cannot help but give in the seat of Queen to Woongneyo(Bear women) Tribe, and she is a woman of pathetic love who becomes a confronting BYJ rather than winning his love in the end. Miss Moon will appear born of the Honeyo Tribe, and will be scouted by ???? Nation that confronts Kogooryeo and then sent back to Kogooryeo as a spy, confronting Mr. BYJ.

Yoon Tae Young as Yeon Ho Gae Rival of Damdeok (BYJ)



Yoen Hogae is the character that rivals Dam Deok acted by BYJ. Having both clever strategy and bravery, he becomes a rival to prince Dam Deok from youth period.

He is the character who loved Seo Kiha(Moon Sori), woman priest, and having defected to China after Dam Deok ascent to King, he becomes general and threatens Dam Deok to the end.

Choi Min Soo, character name not known yet



He is said to act a villain character who interferes with growth of Dam Deok

Suzini is Scarlet Phoenix who came to posess power of fire by Hwangwoong in Mythology Portion, and she is an reincarnation of Saeo, who is a woman of Hwangwoong as well as a woman of Woong Tribe. Scarlet Phoenix Saeo, who came to possess power to rule fire as she received from Hwanwoong a ruby necklace where power of fire, that was taken from Kajin, is confined in, is a chracter who provides momentum for Hwanwoong to seal Four Gods as she manifested as Black Scarlet Phoenix in a war against Ho Tribe, and who came to beautiful yet heart-breaking love with Hwanwoong. She will reincarnate into Suzini in Kogooryeo Period.

'Cheoro' , a reincarnation of Woonsa who has power to rule wood as Guardian God in Orient, is lord of castle at Kwangmi Castle, who came to possess spiritually holy object of Blue Dragon by his father when he was young and has live in ugly appearance for a long time.

Oh Kwang Rok as Hyeon-go



'Hyeon-go', an incarnation of Black Turtle who possesses power to rule water as the head among Four Gods, became head of villiage at Keomeul at young age as indicated by cane, a spiritually holy object of Black Turtle. Since he found new-born baby 'Suzini' inside burnt home of 'Haessi when he was little, he raises Suzini despite objection from people around him.

Park Sang Myun as Jumoochi



White Tiger 'Joomoochi' , who has power to rule iron as a reincarnation of Poongbaek, is a character with dauntless personality in spirit of fighting with fists if he does not have weapon, and with teeth if his fist is cut off. As much as his dauntlessness, he also has warm-heart. He has blunt personality who cannot express outside although he likes Dalbi who are totally in charge of housekeeping in Damdeok Force. He reveals sense of his presence as he fights in war theaters helping Damdeok as supply corps of Malgal.

Yoo Seung Ho as young Damdeok (BYJ's charcater)



He will act the childhood of Dam Deok upto 4th episode.

MAIN CHARACTERS

2000 years ago 2000년 전에
환웅 Hwan Woong - 하늘님의 아들 Son of God. He took the power of fire from Ga Jin to stop the war between the tiger tribe and his people. He entrapped the power in a ruby necklace,
named it the heart of Ju Jak (주작의 심장) and gave it to Sae O. He fell in love with Sae O and they had a son together. However, he had to kill the love of his life because Sae O turned into the black Phoenix. After her death, he returned to the heavens and left the 4 magical items behind. He also left behind a legend. One day, the heavens above will send a new king down to earth. The 4 magical items will be awaken on that day. On the day of the kings birth, the king's star will appear.
새오 Sae O - 웅족의 여전사 Female warrior of the bear tribe, entrusted with the power of the Ju Jak by Hwan Wun She fell in love with Hwan Woong and gave birth to his son. However, Ga Jin stole their son out of jealousy and threw him off a cliff, Not knowing that Hwan Woong had saved their son, she was overwhelmed by rage and she turned into the destructive black phoenix. She was killed by Hwan Woong who had no other choice.
가진 Ga Jin - 호적의 불의신녀 Female priestess of the tiger tribe with the power of fire. She loved Hwan Woong but her love was not returned. She killed herself after Sae O died.

2000 years later 2000년 후에

담덕 DamDeok, 관개토태왕 - The real king of Jushin, expanded 고구려 Go Gwu Ryo.
His entire expanded empire is known as 쥬신Ju Shin. His father became king when his uncle, the previous king, passed on the throne to his father. Both his uncle and his father believed that he is the Ju Shin king. He was forced to confront his aunt, Hogae's mother when she tried to poison his father the king. His aunt committed suicide afterwards and from that day, the friendship between Hogae and him soured and they turned from friends and cousins to enemies. His 1st love was Kiha but it was not meant to be as kiha is a spy. He will fall in love with Sujini, who will help him with the
expansion of his empire.

수지니 Sujini - Reincarnated human form of Ju Jak or Saeo, Disciple of Hyon Go. She did not know that she was Ju Jak. Sister to Kiha but they were separated when she was a baby.The members of the Gor Mel Chon found baby Sujini in a soya bean urn (5 year old Kiha placed Sujini inside to prevent her from getting hurt from the fire) in the burnt down house. When they first saw her, there was a mark of the Ju Jak on her forehead, confirming that she was the reincarnation of Ju Jak.
Out of the fear of her turning into the black phoenix, Hyon Go's master wanted Sujini to be killed but Hyon Go insisted on bringing Sujini up and he made the promise of killing Sujini if she ever turned into the Hek Ju Jak. She was adopted into Gor Mel Chon and was brought up like a boy (almost all members of Gor Mel Chon are males). She will fall in love with DamDeok and aid him with this empire.

서기하 So Kiha - Reincarnation of Ga Jin, .
Sister to Kiha but they were separated when she is a young girl due to the violet acts of Hwa Cheon Hwe. Their family protected and sheltered the Ju Jak magical item for centuries.. Before Hwa Cheon Hwe found them, Kiha's (and sujini's) mother, gave Kiha the necklace and told her to protect her baby sister as she is the eldest.
Their mum hid them under the floorboards. Hwa Cheon Hwe killed both parents and burned down their house. 5 year old Kiha hid her baby sister in the soya bean urn to protect her. The members of the hwa cheon hwe found and took the unconscious kiha back to their head quarters as she was wearing the Ju Jak magical item, the ruby necklace. But they did not know there was another baby. She lost her memory after the fire and she was adopted into Hwa Cheon Hwe. Hwa Cheon Hwe send her into the palace to become a priestess. She fell in love with DaeDeok but their love was not meant to be as she was a spy for Hwan Cheon Hwe, and their target was to prevent the real Jushin king from taking throne.

거믈천 Gor Mel Chon - A tribe that protects the magical item of Wu Sa (Hyon Mu). The members are waiting for the real Jushin king to be born and when that day arrives, they will do their best to aid him.

화전회 Hwa Cheon Hwe - Descendants of the tiger tribe, the members believe that the world belongs to them. They will do whatever it takes to find the 4 magical items and use their powers to prevent the Jushin king from ruling.

주신 Ju Shin - 우리 (한국) 민족의 웅대한제국 Grandiose empire

신시 Shin Shi - 쥬신 제국의 수도 The capital of the Ju Shin empire

Other Characters

연호개 Yon Hogae - Cousin to Damdeok. Borned on the same day and time as DamDeok. However he was not the Ju Shin king. They were best of friends until the death of Hogae's mother. Hogae's mother was a princess and she believed that her son hogae was the rightful king. She tried to poison DamDeok's father but this was discovered by DamDeok with help from Kiha. Damdeok told his aunt that if she can find the one responsible then no harm will come to her family or her son. She took the bottle of poison and committed suicide. However, before she died, she told hogae to become king and to beware of Damdeok. Hogae kept this in mind and they turned from friends to enemies. He was secretly in love with Kiha.

대장로 Dae Jang Ro - The leader of the Hwan cheon Hwe.
주무친 Ju Mu Chin - Reincarnated, human form of Baek Ho

닥단 Dak Dan - Female warrior.
